This device allows to connect devices provided of an RS232 or RS422/485 interface with an ethernet network. It may be used in all cases on which it's necessary to remote up to two serial port using an existing ethernet network through the TCP/IP protocol, the new resource added in this way will be accessible and shared by the computers connected to the network by means of a special driver for COM virtualization (Virtual COM).

The device is provided of an ethernet interface on RJ45 connector and of 1/2 DB9M (DTE) to connect RS232/422/485 interfaces and a TB. The converter is provided of a surge protection on the RS422/485 interface.

The power supply may be connected through a standard 12Vdc adapter (jack 2.1mm) or a 2 poles TB.

These converters operate in “Direct IP Mode”, “Virtual COM Mode”, and “Paired Mode”. They have one or two synchronous DB-9 serial ports, both equip 10/100 Mbps Ethernet RJ-45 connection. The Ethernet port will auto-select 10BaseT or 100BaseTX. The devices also offer an Heart Beat feature to ensure a reliable communicating connection.

The device set-up may be executed using TRP-C3X Manager Software, see the related FAQ. The “TRP-C3X Manager” performs several functions:

• Searching for TRP-C3X connected to the network
• Displaying and changing the configuration of TRP-C3X
• Installing virtual COM ports on a computer
• Displaying and configuring virtual COM ports
• Uninstalling virtual COM ports on a computer
• Upgrading the device firmware
• Monitoring Port Status
• Saving and Loading Configuration Files

All models are compatible with each other except for the TRP-C36 model that uses the STOEC utility instead of TRP-C3X Manager utility for configuration.

The "TRPCOM" is a demo utility which may help to test the device in loopback. The device has a web server that allows to access to all the parameters over the ethernet by using normal browser (ie Internet Explorer).

Optionally it is available an adapter to allow the DIN rail mounting (See figure).
