This device allows the wireless connection of two or more RS232 devices in point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connection. The radio link is ZigBee™/IEEE 802.15.4 compliant. The modem is equipped to sustain excellent range (up to 3x the range of standard ZigBee modems). This is an extremely low cost device. Normally no configuration is needed for most applications, for advanced applications an extended AT command set is available.

The radio protocol manage the lost packets retransmission allowing an high reliability of the link.

The DSSS (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum) system allows up to 13 independent networks in the same area each one with 65000 available addresses.

Are supported the modes Point-to-Point, Point-to-Multipoint, Peer-to-Peer, and, soonest, Mesh; it may work in Unicast and Broadcast modes.

The device is provided of low power mode that allows a consumption less of 6mA, and it has a radio data speed of 250000 bps, configurable, from terminal side, from 1200 to 115200bps.

The use of these modules inside the UE is free, according to the CEPT-ERC/REC 70-03 recommendation, because it's classified Short Range Device (SRD) (see related FAQ). The coverage is about 1,2 Km outdoor line-of-sight with its standard antenna.

The X-CTU™ software, free and in Windows™ environment, allows to configure and check the radio network, and it's provided with RF strength indicator and lost packets. It integrates a terminal window.

To connect the module with the Picosyst and Netsyst controllers, we suggest to use our adapters and cables code CBL055*000 and CBL057**00.

The product is available w/o accessories or in OEM version also, oriented to the users that need to realize compact semi custom devices with integrated radio, extremely cost sensitive. A development kit is available in order to evaluate these OEMs products.
