PortStore converts the serial RS-232 output signals to a TCP/IP (UDP/IP) Ethernet network. But unlike a simple Serial/Ethernet converter the product is able to store the serial received data in a buffer up to 2 Mb of flash memory.
Stored data are later retrieved by a PC-based application, or periodically sent to a server over TCP/IP.

PBX connection
The product is suited to be connected to company PBX (Private Branch Exchange), it can store the data sent out of the serial PBX with the calls log. Stored data are later retrieved by a PC-based application and saved on disk.

Usually the server that downloads the data is located at the central office and the units are located in the various branches spread geographically. Through the Internet, the central server can download data stored in the buffer of the various branch devices.

Printer buffer
The product can be used in any application where there is a printer. Using the product as a printer, it prevents that lack of paper, ink, etc. damages the archiving of data. Moreover, in many cases the printed data are sensitive and the paper that comes out of the printer does not offer the necessary privacy.

A program (Supplied free of charge for non-commercial applications), allows the Ethernet connection with the product, the reading of the buffered data and it saves them on a file to disk. The product can operate in different modes.

TCP/IP Client->Server, PortStore waits as a TCP server until any side (PC or server) opens a TCP connection. When the connection is established, the internal buffered data are sent.

TCP/IP Server<-Client, PortStore received serial port data into its internal buffer and tries to send them to the server. It will try to open a connection to the preset IP address and port. If the attempt is unsuccessful, it waits for a second in the TCP Server mode and then tries to open the connection again.

UDP/IP, The data are transferred in UDP packets, with no delivery notification.

VSP (Virtual Serial Port), You have a HW VSP software which creates a virtual COM port under Windows OS, so that the device acts as if it was connected directly to your PC, though it is a virtual remote port. If the buffer is enabled and the TCP connection is not available, the data is stored into the internal buffer memory.

The device can send an Email when its memory buffer reaches a threshold value. This allows to read the data before the buffer il filled and the data will be lost.
