The Toradex® Oak modules allow to use the USB port of your PC as a low cost data acquisition system. All modules support the USB 2.0 full speed.

The measurement of atmospheric pressure, environment humidity and temperature, luminance, distance etc. is possible by using these devices. The product family combines the cost and performance advantage of highly integrated sensors with the ease-of-use of a standard USB interface. In the same product family are available I/O modules for digital and analog acquisition. Up to 110 Oak sensor modules can be connected to the port using common USB hubs.

It's possible to process data from Oak modules in LabVIEW® environment or by using the Toradex® libraries into your own software applications by using the USB native support available in major operating systems. It's also provided a specific Application Programming Interface (API).

The unique identification of each Oak USB Sensor, including the format and SI-unit of the measured values, is an integral part of the sensor. Additionally, you can assign individual sensor names to the non-volatile memory of your Oak USB Sensors in your sensor network. The concept of Oak USB Sensors automatically leads to a very flexible and scalable model for measurement systems. Extending your sensor network is as simple as plugging another USB device to your USB port.

No external power supply is required. All sensors are powered through the USB cable. The power consumption of Oak USB Sensors is very low. This allows to supply multiple sensors through a single USB host port. All Oak USB Sensors are designed to support USB standby mode, where the supply current is below 500µA. Oak USB Sensors support USB 2.0 Full Speed.

All Oak sensors are implemented as so-called human interface devices (HID). This is the same class of USB devices as keyboards, mice and game pads use, therefore driver support is included in all major operating systems, such as Windows98 to Vista, Windows CE and Linux

It's available a simple data logging software that allows to record and store sampled data, view data in graphical and tabular form, and change basic sensor parameters such as sampling rate. It consists of a single executable file, no installation is necessary.

To manage the modules with the possibility to design attractive virtual panels on PC screen by adding switches, LEDs, counters analog instruments, oscilloscopes and other functions, you can use the ProfiLab-Expert program.
