The
DMX512 is a protocol data transmission that uses the EIA RS485 international
standard. The protocol uses a two-conductor cable (twisted pair) to connecting
up to 512 devices up to a distance of 500m. A control frame for all 512 devices
takes about 23 ms to be sent. This corresponds to a refresh rate of about
44 Hz, if you need a higher refresh rate can be control less devices.
The DMX protocol is used to control theathers scenarios and
lighting effects. There is a wide market availability of spotlights, scenic
machineries, dimmers, etc. provided with DMX interface. By being able to drive
all these devices through a single serial connection it's evident how to handle
scenarios according to proper needs.
Our DMX protocol offer is focused on the availability of
a function block FbDMXProtocol that used on
our Picosyst or Netsyst serie
products allows to manage the protocol. So it's possible to turn on/off lights,
adjust the brightness, change the orientation and color directly from the
device. It's possible create scenarios that can be activated by the activation
of simple logic inputs, avoiding the use of more expensive command units.
Even for the new SlimLine family, the SysDMXMng function block, for the DMX management has been released. This to manage the protocol within a programming environment typical of PLC according to IEC-61131-3
